TraInds (Train Industries) is a strategic initiative aimed at building new models for transferring managerial skills within the railway sector, one of the most innovative and strategic industries in Tuscany.
TraInds targets both companies and managers, with the goal of integrating needs, visions, and training requirements into an operational model that is truly applicable, updatable, and focused on ongoing transformations: digitalization, sustainability, enabling technologies, and new work organization models. The project is rooted in a region of industrial excellence: Tuscany hosts global players such as Hitachi Rail STS, Thales GTS, Italcertifer, as well as a dense network of supply chain companies and research centers like the MORE Laboratory of the University of Florence.
The sector is currently undergoing a triple transition—digital, sustainable, and social—which requires managers to acquire new skills, both in terms of advanced technologies (AI, IoT, blockchain, big data, AR/VR) and in adopting new organizational paradigms for work innovation, communication, and talent management.
The initiative’s challenge is to support the railway ecosystem with competencies capable of driving change, defining an optimal and innovative model for managerial skills transfer.
Key Actions
- Conducting interviews, assessments, focus groups, and workshops with a selected panel of companies and managers.
- Sharing results in a public event, presenting the finalized model.
Expected Outcomes
- Development of an assessment tool.
- Creation of a skills transfer model to be promoted to institutional stakeholders and disseminated throughout the region.
